The SPF:
The Strategic Prevention Framework AKA the SPF is a series of steps used by prevention professionals to better understand and address substance use and mental health problems facing communities today.
The Six CSAP Strategies:

Spread knowledge, data, or news to a wide audience through various channels such as media, communication networks, or public platforms.

Experience two-way communication that may include classroom and/or small group sessions, evidence-based education programs, professional development for staff, and parent education programs.

Establish or change/strengthen community standards, norms, and policies around substance use and misuse. Examples may include:
Educating the community on policies such as Social Hosting Laws
Server training
Zero-tolerance policies
Modifying advertising practices for alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs

Strengthen the community’s ability to effectively provide prevention and treatment/recovery services for substance use disorders. Examples include:
Volunteer training on substance use prevention
Strengthening relationships among community members through coalition development

Identify individuals who have engaged in illegal or age-inappropriate use of tobacco or alcohol and who have indulged in the first use of illicit drugs to assess if their behavior can be reversed through education. Examples:
Student Assistance Programs
Referrals to services

Provides support for substance-free community events. Examples include:
Drug free dances and parties
Youth leadership activities
Community service activities
